Architect: RDA Architects
Statement:
The project consists of the refurbishment of an existing Lidl store, including both internal and external works.
The external works included the construction of new trolley bays and patch repairs to the car park, and the installation of new kerbs in specified areas. The services to the lighting columns and elevation signage were isolated, and the key block drainage removed and upgraded. The borders and retaining walls were repaired and made good, new block paving was laid and landscaping undertaken. New bollards were installed and all existing bollards painted.
As for the store, the external works included replacing the cladding and sofits with zinc, power washing the existing walls, cleaning all general areas and the removal of the existing lobby, this being replaced with a new Schuco lobby. The existing filtration trench was excavated and replaced with pea gravel and filtration paving, whilst the existing gravel and pave base of the building was removed. New gulley pots were installed and the existing dock leveller was removed and a new one installed.
The internal works included the making good of damage and disrepair to the walls, general painting and decorating throughout, and the installation of new flip flap doors. The existing internal doors, including double to single fire doors, were replaced. The fire system was upgraded and new lighting installed. Damaged floor tiles were replaced and new wall tiles laid in various areas. Finally, there was a complete fit-out of the store including the installation of new retail fixtures and fittings.
These works were completed on time and to the Client’s satisfaction.
